Gate Foundation to offer support research publications open access through AAAS Science - February 14, 2017

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation announced an arrangement with the AAAS  to offer an open access option for the journal Science that is in full compliance with the Gates Foundation’s open access policy

This should provide a strong impetus for other journals at this level (Nature, NEJM, etc.) to follow suit; they will be in a very difficult position if they are outliers in not providing an Open Access option for Gates Foundation funded research.
